Can anyone recommend cheap car hire for Majorca?
We are off to Palma Airport, Majorca in July & need a large people carrier – 7 of us plus luggage so probably a 9 seater! Has anyone got any recommendations for a good and reasonable car hire firm please?

Goldcar are good but they make you pay upfront for a tank of petrol with no credit if you don’t use it all. They also have real fully inclusive rates with no excess (which is why they try to claw a bit of profit back with the petrol thing) Good if you are planning on doing a lot of miles.
Otherwise have a look at Argus rentals – they use car trawler and usually have competitve rates for the major rental firms like Hertz. By doing this you don’t have to pay upfront for the petrol but you do have an insurance excess of about 700 euros.

We’ve used Sol-Mar on our last 2 visits, with nothing but praise, and would use them again – they’re the cheapest we could find and excellent service. Previously, have used Centauro, again with no complaints.
i lived in Mallorca and to be honest it’s a lot easier just riding the bus. first, finding a 9 seater in Mallorca is a bit harder than you’d expect. you may have to hire a private tour bus (small sized) for that many people. most car companies on the island seem to carry smaller sized cars. the bus runs from the same place the trams run all over the island and from the airport and it normally runs you around 1.55 euros at the most.
there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. just go here: and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it’s very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online… otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
